The Book Haus:  The Tale Behind the Books

Watertown, NY is a town nestled south of the Canadian border and east of Lake Ontario, in the foothills of the Adirondak Mountains.  This town, while rich in outdoor activities and beauty, was lacking one very important aspect, a bookstore.  With a healthy college population, a strong military presence, and a plethora of families with children, Watertown was in great need of a bookstore.

After living in the area for some time and seeing this need first hand, Michelle Robinson and her husband decided to remedy this situation.  Listening to the needs of the community, the Book Haus was born.  This local bookstore has all the trappings of the big box bookstores, but is quite unique.  Paying homage to the area, there is a rich local interest section in which local authors and works about the area are featured.  In addition, the Book Haus works with the local colleges to create a section that contains many of the additional books and items of research students will need to succeed.  As a service to our local military members, we work intimately with the military to ensure the recommended reading material from the Commander's Reading List is displayed and readily available.  Not to be forgotten, the Book Haus realizes the importance of introducing the next generation to the amazing world of books.  Because of this, the Book Haus has created a Children's Corner containing the classics we all grew up with, along with books popular to children today.  In addition, we have a rich Children's program that excites children and invites them to interact with the books.

The Book Haus is here to fill the needs of the North Country residents.  If you can't find what you are looking for, please let us know.  We will order it for you, with a delivery time equal to our competitors.  Now that you know the story behind the Book Haus, we look forward to sharing the stories within our walls, and to hear the story about you!
